Sammya Nigeria Limited intends intend to have a brand extension to be name SammyaSteel, it will be heavily involved in steel fabrication and construction in the Oil & Gas industry. We will design, Fabricate, deliver and support our customers' investments in capital assets from oil and gas facilities (Refinery and pipeline) to Structural Steel and Steel towers for GSM antenna, High tension power line and substation, We intend to render service that involve the fabrication and testing of onshore, submerged or above-ground pipelines, topside, sub sea manifolds, pig launchers / receivers, process piping and pressure vessels. Galvanizing

SammyaSteel will have a galvanising plant. With a Hot Deep facility. Galvanizing is a protective coatings for steel. Hot deep galvanising is dipping steel into molten zinc after removing the rust with sulphuric acid and electroplating. The value of hot-dip galvanizing stems from the relative corrosion resistance of zinc. It form a physical barrier against corrosion, zinc is applied as a hot-dip galvanized coating because its protects steel from the exposure to the environment. galvanizing for protection of iron and steel is favoured because of its low cost and the extended maintenance-free service that it provides.

The life expectancy of hot dip galvanized coatings is between 50 to 100 years, even in severe urban and coastal exposure hot dip galvanized coating has a unique metallurgical structure which gives outstanding resistance to steel in oil & gas, structural steel erection, Steel towers and transports. The galvanising process will include-

Longitudinal Submerge Arc Welded Line

Welded pipe (pipe manufactured with a weld) is a tubular product made out of flat plates, known as scalp that are formed, bent and prepared for welding. The most popular process for large diameter pipe uses a longitudinal seam weld. Double submerged arc welded (DSAW) pipe is welded pipe whose longitudinal butt joint is welded in at least two passes, one of which is on the inside of the pipe; the welds are made by heating with an electric arc between the bare metal electrode. Pressure is not used. Filler metal for the welds is obtained from the electrodes. This has two longitudinal seams 180° apart, formed by the SAW process. Finished pipes are normally 40 feet (12 m) and occasionally 60 feet (18 m) long, depending on the capacity of the pipe mill, the market demand and the ease of transport to the pipeline. The mill evaluates the quality of the weld seam using ultrasonic and/or radiological inspection methods, and pressure tests each joint of pipe to levels significantly higher than the eventual operating pressure of the pipeline.

Demand in Nigeria for welded pipe is increasing annually, that is why Sammya Nigeria Limited s partnering with a German company to set up a Longitudinal Submerge Arc Welding Pipe Line in Nigeria within the next 20 month. This is in accordance with the Nigerian Government policy that 70% of pipes must be produced locally by 2007, creating a huge market for us in the Nigerian Oil and Gas sector.

Seamless Plant

This process is used to make smaller sizes of seamless pipe, typically 1 to 6 inches (25 to 150 mm) diameter. The ingot of steel is heated to 1,300°C and pierced. A mandrel is inserted into the tube and the assembly is passed through a rolling (mandrel) mill. the mandrel mill reduces wall thickness continuously with a series of pairs of curved rollers set at 90° angles to each other. After reheating, the pipe is passed through a multi -stand stretch-reducing mill to reduce the diameter to the finished diameter. The pipe is then cut to length before heat treatment, final straightening, inspection, and hydrostatic testing.

Seamless pipe is formed from a cylindrical bar of steel (billet) that is heated to a very high temperature, and then is pierced with a probe to create the hole through the cylinder. Rollers size the cylinder to produce the proper diameter and wall thickness. This technique is used to make small diameter pipe, from 0.5 inches to 24 inches in diameter.

Demand in Nigeria for Seamless pipe is increasing annually, that is why Sammya Nigeria Limited s partnering with an Italian company to set a Seamless Pipe mill in Nigeria within the next 36 months. This is in accordance with the Nigerian Government policy that 70% of pipes must be produced locally by 2007, creating a huge market for us in the Nigerian Oil and Gas sector.
